At least 40% of an adult human’s body weight is comprised of muscles. Besides the very obvious motor actions, our muscles are responsible for circulating blood, breathing, moving food through the digestive system and, eliminating waste products from the body. We have over 600 skeletal muscles, which are shaping and supporting the skeleton. Metabolically muscles use the majority of food and oxygen we consume to produce energy for movement and to regulate the body’s heat. Unfortunately overworked, neglected muscles are responsible for the majority of neck, shoulder and backaches, tendonitis, migraines and of course, the most menacing of all, sciatica. Since these conditions are the direct result of tight and tense muscles from built up metabolic waste products, the most obvious remedy is massage therapy.

Our massages have a highly therapeutic effect on the aching, tired, and overworked muscles. Maintaining the health of your muscles through exercise, massage, stretching and proper nutrition should be a high priority for all. None of us would demand peak performance and reliability from our automobiles without the proper maintenance routine. Our muscles are the engine and the drive train that convert energy into motion and they do need preventive maintenance more than ever. Physical and mental stress lowers the body’s oxygen supply and in return helps the buildup of lactic acid and other metabolic waste products that are stored in our muscle tissues, preventing them from performing as designed. A properly performed massage routine will make you feel its positive psychological and physiological effects for a long time and will make you realize the difference between your performances of a used and abused, or a well maintained self. Whether your focus is on increasing your fitness level, or to enhance mental output, or to speed up recovery from an injury, a regular muscle maintenance routine is a must.
